Pest Patrol: Training your immune system to keep bugs out
Have you ever wondered how exactly our immune system learns how to get better at fighting infections? Here in Trinity Biomedical Science Institute, we are asking the same question. Join us on European researcher night to learn more about how our immune defence system trains itself to be smarter and faster at fighting infection. Take on the role of "pest patrol" in our interactive challenge where you will get your own chance to defend yourself against a pesky bug invasion. See for yourself if you too can learn a faster defence!

Mission Impossible: The HS Heist
A virtual escape room including multiple rooms where the player reads a patient's case file to gain information for subsequent challenges. The player must make their way through the Hidradenitis suppurativa-themed challenges, learning about the risk factors, symptoms, and treatments for HS along the way. As the players solve the anagrams, jigsaws, interactive body maps and questions they will receive a code which will be required to reach the final locked room. Here, players will use all the information they have learned throughout the challenge to provide a treatment plan for the patient. All against the clock.

DNA Extraction Demonstration
Ever wondered what your DNA looks like? Here’s your chance to find out! In this fun and simple experiment, you’ll extract DNA from a kiwi fruit and see it with your own eyes. It’s a hands-on way to explore the incredible molecule that shapes everything from your eye colour to your hair colour. Perfect for the curious—don’t miss out on this opportunity to dive into the wonders of DNA!

Become the Biomedical Scientist
In this interactive game, you’ll become a scientist for the day, designing and running your own biomedical experiment. Start by sorting cells with our custom marble track, where you’ll guide “cells” through a fun and engaging sorting process, learning about how the real flow cytometer works. Then, mix colourful solutions and conduct a virtual mouse study—all while uncovering the secrets of how our bodies fight disease. Finally, you will showcase your own results in a creative graphical abstract, just as scientists do. It’s a hands-on, fun-filled adventure that brings the excitement of the lab to life!
